SWHEREAS by ,The Natoralization SAct, 18704, it is enacted that, where Her Majesty has entered into a Convention with Sany foreign State, to tha effect that the sobjects or citizens of that State who have 4been naturalized as British subjects ma Sdivest themselves of thsir status 28 such subjects, it shall be lawful for Her Majesty, py Order in Council, to declare that such Convention has been entered into by Her tMajesty; and from and after the date of Such O.der in Council, any person heivg Soriginally a subject or citizen of the State rofered to in soch Order, who has been naSturalized as a British subject, may, within such limit of time as may be provided in the Convention, make a declarstion of alienage; and from and after the date of his so making fuch declaration, such person shall be regarded as an alicn, and ass subfject of the State to which he originaliy Sbelonged as aforesaid. And whereas, on or abort tha thirtesansh day of May last past, ta Coovention between Her Möejesty and the SPresident of the United States of America Sws8 doly signed at London, tberstifications Swyhereof were duiy exchanged at London he tenth day of August instant, whereby the subjecrs or citizens ofthe Uvited States Sof America who have been naturalized as British subjects ere at liberty to renounce Stheir naturalization, and divest themselves of their status as such British subjects, provided that such renunciation bea public!y declared witbin two ycars after the excharge of the ratifications of tke said ConSyention, Now, therefore, Her Majesty, by and with the advice of H-r Privy Councl, Sdåotn hereby declare that Her Majesty hes Sentered into a Convention with tha said eUnited States of America, to the effect that he subjects or citiz:ns of those States who have been paturalized as Britieh subjects may divest themselves of their status as such sabjects.
